WHAT’S NEW IN JQUERY 1.7

The Version 1.7 tag at the API site is a great way to get up to speed with the new things in this release. Here’s a rundown of the big items in 1.7 and some things not yet mentioned in the API docs.
  • New Event APIs: .on() and .off()
  • - This is a new way to attach events to selectors. Currently we have bind,live and delegate to do the same job but with 1.7 they have introduced on and off.
  • Improved Performance on Delegated Events
  • Better Support for HTML5 in IE6/7/8
  • jQuery.isNumeric()
  • jQuery.Deferred

Removed Features
  • jQuery.isNaN()
  • jQuery.event.proxy()
